The Selvaticos are back. Straight up from the streets of Bogota, Dusseldorf & London.

If you have never heard of them, it is basically the perfect band for people who like music and enjoy dancing but don’t really care about either. One of the few old school ragga jungle-turned into- full new hardcore D&B depending on the mood, They’ve collected another grab bag of party tunes that sound as good on your phone as in the clubs, sorted by a dizzying number of featured vocalists, and for the first time in Latino Resiste, we have not just one but 2 tracks in German.

This album, somehow, feels like could have been produced in Bogota, Dusseldorf, or London. And perhaps that is why it sounds so eclectic, because it was!

2 A. M doesn’t steer away from the subversive beginnings, very British drum’n’bass blend with Jamaica and American influence but also includes some accordions, dembow, and a complete arsenal of bass drops, landing comfortably in the profitable hinterland between Shy FX’s cold calculation and Skrillex’s wild abandon.

Still, one thing The Selvaticos keep doing release after release is hung on a string of unforgettable hooks, as good as grown-up pop gets.

El Nomada- Sabor A Machete

Latino Resiste is extremely happy to finally have a whole EP from one of the OG’s in the game.

Back in the day he created a new genre called Junglaton (Drum and Bass fused with Moombahton) alongside Jon Kwest. However, El Nomada kept evolving the game and actually has gone really deep into the game and making great statements in what Latin Drum & Bass is.

Born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico EL Nomada sound is a blend of upbeat UK Drum and Bass style percussion, with Latin Reggaeton, and deep dark eclectic Synths and Bass sounds.

At the time he was dubbed “The King of Drumstep” by UK’s Dj UMB from GenerationBass.

El Nomada is also a pioneer of the moombahton movement in Kansas City, and founder of the Kayceeton guild of Kansas City moombahton producers and overall a real OG.

His latest EP called Sabor a Machete is a brutal statement of what Latin Drum & Bass is.

The Selvaticos- Futile Future

In 2013, a collaboration between their love for old school jungle music and Drum & Bass got together producers Chong X and Caballo to release JAH JAH RULES .

Then Caballo moved forward with the project alone to drop a second installment called Mayo’ Naizer in 2016 which went more Jungle-Bass, Reggaeton-Jungle and Grime.

Now in 2020 a 3rd chapter called FUTILE FUTURE and it gets to finally see the basslight after a long process of finding right balance, fans of old school jungle as well as those who like Futuristic Drum & Bass can be either pining for songs with typical Shy Fx flavour or for a whole new Ill gates type of sound.

In an attempt to appease both crowds, Futile Future lands somewhere in the between with safe, familiar sounds but also keeps a loose wire in terms of exploration. In fact, the quality of the collaborations/sample/edits makes the vocal talent able to lit the album and keep the old-school vibe even though some of the tracks, like Solid Defense, are a completely futuristic dub & bass . Futile Future is simply put one of the most concrete Jungle albums made by a adopted Latins, especially considering the reputation that these genre have gone through in the past few years in the EDM community.
