LATINO RESISTE

Latino Resiste unveils a hidden jewel of our catalog. Coming from Colombia and Officially released in 2008, Orquesta de Recamaras del Cartucho got Classical music with electronic and funk beats, with some latin percussion.

At the time this was a leap of faith Latino Resiste did to escape from the cumbia/mestizo/balkan focused music that was pouring everywhere and as usual trying to highlight music that came from Latin America that you wouldn’t find anywhere else, An Alpha Beta & Omega3 became a favorite from the label.

Tracks like Monserrate, Enburundangao have a special sauce that breaks the usual pattern of what we conceive Classical music coming from South America.

The opening track Nepesh’s Alpha gives you an insight of what’s to come. While the electronic beats might remind you of Fatboy Slim or Basement Jaxx the arrangement goes further away to be closer to the likes of squarepusher or Aphex Twin kind of approach.

And perhaps one of the best parts of the whole release is that it got mixed and mastered by Luis Medina.

Some of you may have heard the name, but at the time he was working doing incidental music for Telemundo, so the tense music got the perfect treatment from a guy who really understands Telenovela’s dramatic tension.
