Do you want the whole discography from Latino Resiste’s sub label THE REBEL RECORDS?

Some may have a simple question: what is the difference between Latino Resiste and The Rebel Records?

The main difference is THE REBEL RECORDS releases individual artists who work on a specific or many genres like Den5hion or Chong X, while Latino Resiste is about unveiling underground/no mainstream genres and producers in a specific genre regardless their country, and trying to cover the whole genre with at least one example of a subgenre..

with that been said, in case you missed any of the releases, here they are for Holidays!!

Our biggest artist til date and probably our most amazing release for 2011 is Pedro Ramaya Beltran’s el rey del Millo.
This was a great effort from Colombian producer Leon Murcia and Pedro Beltran.
A HUGE honor to have, Murcia and Beltran releasing their jewel album JUST TO REMIND PEOPLE the fact that Mr. Beltran is still kicking ass and Murcia is one of the best cumbia and folklore producers who are available for featuring and or gigs in Colombia or anywhere!!

He teamed with many wicked people including a grammy winner for mastering the album and latin America’s best Music graphic designer Afromestiza for the artcover!

From Colombia, one of the most interesting kids around, is 17 y.o. Dany F, who has been working lately on deep cumbia, and mixing club techno with some champeta loops.

So when K.E.N. dropped Perreo Digital, Dany F, started doing much more champeta based tracks.

Kinky Electric Noise fulfills perfectly all the elements to make champeta and even takes it to the next level, blending champeta and Tuki on their tune WAZAMAYETA

But this album is just the tip of the iceberg of what now Electrochampeta has became!

From Cartagena, Miami, Norway or Moscow, Producers have given Champeta a V.40 update!!

In order to sound “champeta” a track needs to have at least 1 out of 3 from the following elements:

1) The champeta is a hybrid style made up of the rhythms of the Caribbean, Cumbia, Compás, Soca, Calypso, Reggae; combined with the sounds of several countries of the African continent, such as Soukous, Mbaqanga, Bikutsi, Highlife, Juju and Congolese rumba. They were intertwined and gave way to a new style in the barrios (districts) of Cartagena (Colombia). The lyrics are usually satirical. It is also known as terapia criolla.

2) Emulate Guitar Patterns from Abelardo Carbono, or Noel Petro or teto Ocampo.
Separately, these 3 gentlemen shifted the whole genre sound with their guitar tone and style. Huge influence on other players.

An essential release for those who want to know what is going on with the latino underground movement and the connection from the african roots in modern latin music.
We have not only some of the best names in terms of artists you’ll hear, the best “cantaoras” from Latin America:
Petrona Martinez, or Etelvina Maldonado ( get Re-mixed majestically) for Example.
but also the ones who made the compilation possible.
PALENQUE RECORDS C.E.O, Lucas Silva, joined Caballo in the selection!!
For the people who don’t know about Palenque Rec; this is like getting Rick Rubin on board doing a rock compilation, or David Byrne doing a so-called “world Music”.
Lucas has given Latino Resiste part of Palenque Records Discography including the iconic Sexteto Tabala de Palenque, and Alfonso Cordoba aka EL BRUJO, who was so important that Colombian government gave him ‘Gran Order of Cultural Merit” -Colombia’s highest cultural recognition- to name a few of the amazing songs we have for this FREE compilation.
And for the first time we add a GRAMMY nominee giving their music from their just brand new release!!

Locos por Juana, also donated their Champeta for latinAfrica.

In the compilation you’ll find songs that define this new and very unique sound.

Each one of the songs represent an extension of African Influence in Latin America.

From the Roots sounds of Las pilanderas Momposinas or Sexteto Tabala, going thru the original pata pata with latin flavor, to even include Uproot Andy & Geko jones amazing version of Manuelita.

Note: El agua is performed by Faraon Bantu Sound System feat DJ RATA ( B/C the name is too long we made it short in the artcover just to Faraon Bantu, although DJ RATA is a name to behold in the champeta circle)
